Mammut

Mammut got its start with traditional rope works in Switzerland. They have continued to produce ropes exclusively made in Switzerland. They have also expanded into other climbing equipment, apparel, headlamps, and packs but their commitment to excellence has remained the same.

Every product is tried and tested in the Swiss alps. With 150 years of experience making ropes and other products in Switzerland Mammut has the experience and knowledge to continue to create great products.

My go-to touring pants for the winter are a pair of Mammut Schoeller soft shells. I use them from the first desperate turns in a marginally snow-filled gully in October to the last trip up the Y couloir in June. They fit my Keep It Simple Stupid design preference - great fabric, great fit, and no bells and whistles. They breathe no matter how hard I work in the skin track and provide enough weather resistance that I don't mind waiting the extra ten minutes at the top of a run for our marketing manager, Matt, to finally get his out-of-shape butt up the skin track.
