Outdoor Research was started with a simple idea, a more functional gaiter for alpine climbing. From there it has expanded to everything from hiking gear to kayaking gear. Design

Outdoor Research was founded with the idea of finding solutions to gear problems. They continue to work to improve products and create new ones. Outdoor Research created a user feedback system called the Lab Rat Program that allows anyone who uses their products to send feedback directly to the product development team.

Materials

Outdoor Research uses a variety of materials in their products, with such a wide variety of products they use materials that stay dry, are lightweight, and durable.

Construction

Outdoor Research constructs its products to be used in the backcountry. When you are miles away from the trail head you need products that you can trust in unpredictable conditions.
